Here are some more pix from last year’s August toadstool outbreak. These are shot from underneath, thanks to the auto focus on my little Olympus. The camera doesn’t do a lot of stuff I’d like to have, but it’s small enough for me to smush into the grass and aim it up at the underside of the mushroom. I had to mash a few blades of grass out of the way, but I was quite surprised—and pleased—with the results. I used the macro setting with a focal length of a couple of inches. I also had to adjust the exposure to let more light in. I would have loved to have found a fat red lady bug under one of these, but not yet.
